A Confident, Borderline Cocky Obama Delivers SOTU--Ehanced Video Inside /
A different Obama showed up to last night’s State of the Union address. Obama stood in front of a joint session of Congress and chastised them on their inaction, since 2010. The peacemaker-in-chief still managed to extend an olive branch to his Republican friends but he also warned that if Congress refuses to act, then he will use the powers of the executive branch to boost the American economy. The president mentioned that he would send a bill to Congress that would reduce the mortgage costs of Americans by $3,000 a year, by allowing all homeowners to refinance their homes at record-low interest rates. The president also took on colleges—the president warned colleges during his hour and five minute speech. He said that if colleges do not find a way to bring tuition prices down then he would decrease the amount of federal funding that they receive—they can’t have both. The President also spent time touting his accomplishments—he mentioned Osama bin Laden as well as his decision to save the American auto industry.
