Jean Paul Gaultier Tributes Amy Winehouse At Paris Fashion Week, Winehouse's Father Is Mad As Hell /
Here's what Mitch Winehouse (Amy's dad) had to say about the Gaultier show:
“The family were upset to see those pictures, they were a total shock. We’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on … We’re proud of her influence on fashion but find black veils on models, smoking cigarettes with a barbershop quartet singing her music in bad taste. It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life. That’s upsetting for her family.”
Certainly, Gaultier could have made a donation to the family's foundation--that was just cold. However, Mitch Winehouse needs to accept the fact that this is the Amy Winehouse that we all came to know and fall in love with. To him, the show highlighted the worst time in Winehouse's life, but to us, it highlighted the only time in her life that we know of--I mean we came to know Amy Winehouse because she didn't want to 'go to rehab,' and in almost every picture we saw of her, she had a cigarette perched between her lips. I don't get the shade coming from Mitch Winehouse. Your thoughts?
