Laurel High School Grad & First MC on NBC's 'The Voice" Joins Team Xtina /

The name is Moses Stone and he is a Washington, D.C. native and graduate of Laurel High School. Last night he auditioned for the 2nd season of NBC's talent search, "The Voice." When I heard that this guy would be trying out for The Voice, I just knew that Cee-lo would snag him. Turns out, Christina Aguilera was the only one to swivel her, now infamous, big red chair!

Here's more music from Moses Stone:

D.C.'s Own Marc Clark Snags A Kardashian As the Face of His New Line /

... well not really a Kardashian, but a Jenner (just as GREAT!). #Toast2Marc for having success in his own lane. Kudos to him!
Kendall Jenner for Marc Clark

Looking Haute
Clark recently sat down with an NBC affiliate to talk about his already successful new line. Here's an excerpt:

How did you get into fashion? Was this something that you always saw yourself doing?
I started off in D.C. I’m from D.C. and P.G. County and I went to Friendly High School. In high school, a friend and I started making hand-painted T-shirts and... [people] started asking who did our shirts.
So we started a T-shirt company and had it for four years, and in that process I was in college and we didn’t really have time for the line, so we parted and I later started my own line.
It started out with bow ties, which is one that Chef Roblé wore on Watch What Happens Live. My girl Estelle wore one, and people asked her where she got it from and it was a ripple effect from there. Rihanna wore one to her album release party [in 2009] and the next day I was featured on Teen Vogue.
What about styling?
Styling and fashion go hand-in-hand. I have a lot of friends who always asked, “Where did you buy that from?” or “Can we go shopping?” and it became a side thing.
I started off with small gigs like photo shoots here and there, and I started getting actual clients, like Ryan Leslie and Chef Roblé. It transitioned from being something small to something enormous, and I love it! I love expressing myself through clothes and creative artwork.
What would you say is your motivation and inspiration behind your brand?
I have seven brothers and sisters, and I wanted to set the bar high for them. I wanted to do something to make my family proud. My motivation is to have my brothers and sisters say, “Yo, my brother did it; I can do it.”
I want them to know there is a whole world outside of their neighborhood. It’s about taking risk and putting yourself out there. I feel like if I can touch at least one person with my story and creativity, then I’m complete.
Who's the average Marcc client?
I always say my customers are daring individuals. They are individuals who like to express themselves either through their accessories or the clothing on their back. They live graphic design, art and culture. We live in a microwave society and we live in a society where everyone wants to feel like a celebrity in some way, and everyone is in their own lane. I love that you can create your personal style along with my product.
We know Kendall Jenner is one of the models for your line. How did this relationship between Marcc and the Kardashians' little sis come about?
I really wanted to kind of push it with someone who had that look of my consumer. I was going through comp cards of different models and came across this one girl... I said, “Oh, she’s very pretty” and I saw her name and was like, “Oh she’s a Kardashian.”
If you didn’t know she was a Kardashian or Jenner you would automatically think she was a model; I found her by her presence. I think it was a wonderful [exchange] using her to help [promote] my first collection.
With the T-shirt company I had before Marcc, we tried to get in Urban Outfitters but it just never worked out. Once my [new] T-shirt collection launched, within three weeks I received an email from the store. It’s all about timing; you can’t rush things. It happens all on God’s timing and I’m just blessed to have something that people like and gravitate toward.
Can you tell us what goes into the process of designing your bow ties and glasses? Are they handmade?
They are both handmade. The bowties are handmade and I sit down and make every single one. For me, quality is a huge factor. I use 100 percent cotton for my shirts. I handmake everything so that I can be assured that the product that my clients receive is up to par.
The glasses are produced in Japan and it takes 16 hours to produce one pair because it is 100 percent brass metal. It’s a whole process behind designing them. They are priced at $800 because it’s definitely a quality piece.
You have had some of the biggest celebrities wear your designs, from Rihanna to Jay-Z to Lady Gaga. How does it feel when you see celebrities -- or anyone, for that matter -- supporting your brand?
It’s a surreal feeling. Honestly, it’s weird. I can tell you that the weirdest situation was with Jay-Z. He wore the “Love and Life” T-shirt that you can find in Urban Outfitters. I discovered it when I was watching the "Watch the Throne" documentary and I didn’t even realize it.
Something said, let me watch this again, so I watched it online and I’m like “Wow, I have that shirt.” It still didn’t hit me and then I replayed it and I’m like, “Wow, that is my shirt!”
Not only is he wearing my shirt in his documentary, but also on his birthday last year, Dec. 4. So a whole year went by, just about, and I didn’t know until July of this year that he was wearing my T-shirts.
will.i.am wore my glasses every night for the Black Eyed Peas tour. To see something that I created is a great feeling. I just appreciate the fact that my work is being appreciated by not only celebrities but by my supporters.
So was that Jay-Z moment the highlight of your career?
What can people expect from the Marcc brand next year and in the future?
Expansion forreal! 2012 is going to be a very big year for Marcc. I have a lot of products coming out.
I don’t want to say too much but I will say that it will be more of a lifestyle brand that is going to have a piece for everyone, whether you are going to the gym or prom. It will be an expansion of the brand and product.
Here is behind-the-scenes footage of Kendall Jenner during her 'Marcc' photoshoot! Enjoy!

The Next Best Thing: Tony Lucca "Anchored" /

First of all, I have to say that even after the first episode of NBC's 'The Voice,' I am thoroughly impressed with the level of talent. I first discovered Tony Lucca last night on the show and I was floored by his rich, raspy voice. Moments after Lucca's audition aired, he gained about 100,000 new followers on Twitter. So I decided to do some research on him, and it turns out that Mr. Lucca is, in my opinion, the next best thing. Last night, he turned every coaches chair around, but ultimately going with Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, passing up Christina Aguilera--his old colleague from The New Mickey Mouse Club.
The Voice premiered last night on NBC's following the Giants Super Bowl win. However, the audience of over 30 million became acquainted with the network's fantastic four because of their Betty White featured Super Bowl ad:

'The Diva, The Drama, The Dirt': The Voice Coaches Cover Rolling Stone /

cover 1150
NBC's breakout competition, 'The Voice' will get the coveted post-Super Bowl spot that every show wants. Last year, the show garnered an average of 13 million viewers a night--making it television's breakout series and the no. 1 show on NBC. Part of what made the show successful is the love/hate relationship between the four mentors/coaches. (Don't call them judges!) Their chemistry is obvious as the four superstars--all of which are nominated for Grammys this year-- grace next month's cover of Rolling Stone. T2T managed to snag an excerpt from the article before it hits stands:

At its heart, The Voice is a game show, and the most essential rules that guide its coaches are unspoken: Try not to wince when blind auditions trick you into picking an unsightly singer; always declare it "heartbreaking" to choose the winner of a vocal battle, no matter how easy the decision actually is; and most importantly, never, ever interrupt Christina Aguilera when she is speaking.
One late afternoon in a quiet backroom of a Los Angeles photo studio, Aguilera is curled up, barefoot, on a white couch next to fellow coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. She's sipping an iced coffee and holding forth on the greatness of the team of singers she's assembled for The Voice's second season, which begins February 5th in a prime post-Super Bowl slot: "In one of my battles," she says, "this girl and guy are doing Nirvana's 'Heart-Shaped Box,' and I'm not sure if people would even expect that from me..."
At that, Cee Lo Green – who's been splayed diagonally in a leather chair off to the side, in deep communion with the ceiling – snaps to attention and begins singing Kurt Cobain's melody in his high voice: "Hey, wait/I've got a new complaint..."
Aguilera flares up like a sexy puffer fish, swiveling her bleach-blond head in his direction, red lips pursed, blue eyes blazing with imperial annoyance. "Yes, Cee Lo," she says, as if she's talking to her four-year-old son. "This is my floor here!"
He stops singing, and Aguilera laughs, already over it: "You wake him up and now he's interrupting everybody's shit!"
The unlikely stars of The Voice – last season's highest-rated NBC entertainment show – have a surprisingly warm off-camera rapport for four people who have no real business being in a room together. "Just look at the four of us," says Levine. "It's just so wrong and so amazing."
As widespread gossip would have it, the other three supposedly resent Aguilera for various alleged sins, including tardiness, imperiousness and earning more money than them – but there's not much evidence of that today. "'Supposedly' is the key word," Aguilera says, with a big laugh. Levine and Shelton just attended Aguilera's 31st birthday party at a Hollywood bowling alley; Cee Lo skipped it only because he was out of town.
They spend a lot of time teasing one another. Oklahoma native Shelton – a singer with 10 Number One country hits to his name but little recognition outside his genre before The Voice debuted last April – is a frequent target of hick jokes. Shelton, 35, has been on an Eighties kick lately, so he plays Young MC's "Bust a Move" on his iPhone's tinny speakers. Says Levine, "Blake thinks this song came out two weeks ago." But they're also jealous of his cowboy cool: "Blake can say anything or do anything," Levine adds. "If I was like, 'I'm drunk at 4:00!' I'd be attacked. He's like, 'It's cool, fuck you, I just shot a fucking moose, kiss my ass!' He can say whatever he wants."
Cee Lo, 37, is the designated oddball, the ruler and sole inhabitant of what Shelton calls "Cee Lo Land." At the moment, he's wearing a black tank top and long black shorts, plus sandals over white socks. "He can wear white socks with sandals and still have it be fucking cool," says Levine. "If I did that, Blake would make fun of me."
If Aguilera occasionally has to go full diva, on-camera or off-, she sees it as the only way to hold her own. "You have to be a pretty strong girl to stay up in the mix with the guys," she says. "It's a lot. It's a crazy locker-room kind of situation."
Levine, his tattooed, yoga-toned arms exposed by a sleeveless shirt, turns to Aguilera. "I honestly just recently started realizing that you're surrounded by three dudes all the time, and that has to be something of a pain in the ass," he says. But they've made some concessions: "We stopped farting in front of her!"
Aguilera rolls her eyes: "You had a nasty burp at the Super Bowl commercial, though."

Contestant Rocks Out Trey Songz's 'Say Aah' In Sneak Peek of 'The Voice' /

See, the reason why we're such fans of this show is because it's not your average competition. NBC released this sneak peek of the blind auditions that will begin immediately after the Super Bowl--this girl sang Trey Songz's 'Say Aah' and KILLED IT! I doubt very seriously you'd ever see anything this unique on AI. I wonder who this chick picked as her mentor--rumors are that she went with Cee-lo, but who knows. The season premiere of The Voice is on Feb. 4, right after the Super Bowl on NBC.

XTINA: "I'm human, too" /

No doubt, powerhouse pop diva Christina Aguilera has had a bumpy year. She will go down in history as the singer who famously flubbed the National Anthem, slipped on stage at the Grammys (following a stunning performance) and most recently, got arrested for public intoxication. But the five-time Grammy award-winning songstress is laughing all the way to the bank. She recently signed on as the only female coach for the highly anticipated NBC show, The Voice. While promoting the new show, Aguilera took questions from reporters about her past year, head-on. When asked about her recent mishaps, she acknowledged that she’s gone through a “really hard divorce” calling the experience “life-uprooting.” The “Beautiful” singer went on to say, “I’m human, too, and people make mistakes.” Well, I hope Xtina can get it together soon; she’s got a lot of folks rooting for her. Btw, I just read that Burlesque—the singer’s first feature film is on track to gross $100 million! Yea, she is laughing all the way to the bank. Yo, Xtina, let me hold 20.
