President Obama Sings 'Sweet Home Chicago' With Blues Legend BB King /

We just got a small snippet of an Al Green classic the last time we heard our president bust a note. This time, while singing with B.B. King and Mick Jagger, the president nearly belted the lyrics to Sweet Home Chicago. Surprisingly, the President's pitch and power was dead on, which leads me to believe that he really does practice his singing--when no one's looking!

President Obama Interrupts Jay Carney White House Briefing /

On yesterday, President Obama interrupted press secretary Jay Carney’s White House briefing to talk about the payroll tax cuts that have been taking up majority of our political space on T2T. Just so you know, the payroll tax cut that President Obama and the Democrats are fighting for would mean the difference of $40 dollars in the paycheck of 160 million American workers—including you! One half of the United States Congress has managed to pass a bill, including the payroll tax holiday extension. The Senate passed a bipartisan bill to extend the tax cuts. But, what did the tea party Republicans in the House of Representatives do? They rejected it—a bipartisan bill that would provide a tax cut to nearly all middle class, working folk. At the press briefing, Obama kept it cool, but he wasted no time attacking Republicans for their political games—telling the press that the stakes are high, but this isn’t “poker.”

Rapper Common Brings First Lady Under Fire! /

Conservative media outlets (Fox News) were in overdrive today as news broke that first lady Michelle Obama would be hosting rapper Common, along with several other poets, at the White House for a celebration of American poetry. Fox News called Common “vile” as headlines like “First Lady to host rapper who talks of killing cops, burning Bush” splashed across their website. A republican-run blog even posted an excerpt from the rapper’s popular poem, Letter to the Law:

It’s nice to see that the White House is reaching out to all facets of American society. What most people don’t acknowledge is—rap music is a major part of our pop culture. Whether we like it or not, rappers tell a story— the problem is, it may not always be the story that we want to hear. What do you all think?  Is First Lady “O” out of line? Leave us a comment.
