Maryland Native Moses Stone Shows America How We Do It In the DMV /

So last night on 'The Voice' team Xtina & team Blake were on the chopping block. I hate to say it, but Blake's team was an epic fail. All the contestants were talented but I'm not sure Blake Shelton is the best coach. Most of his song choices and arrangements were questionable. But there was one thing that was undeniable last night--a certain Kanye West meledy performed by Moses Stone, the P.G. County native and aspiring MC that wanted success so badly that he decided to try out for a singing competition. Though Stone didn't "sing" a single note in his audition, he still caught the attention of blonde bombshell Christina Aguilera--and based on last night's performance, it was a match made in musical heaven! Take a look at the performance that had everyone rocking out!

To all the Washingtonians…how accurate is this video? Was it a good generalization of our area or just a jab at a particular segment of society?

Get Dirty with 48-ounce cocktails! /

Dirty Martini Lounge, located in the heart of DuPont Circle, recently debuted the largest cocktail in the city: The ‘Big Dirty,’ a 48-ounce martini. I must say, we definitely deserve it. Not only are we a city that plays hard, we work hard & now, drink hard! The martinis come in every concoction imaginable.

Next time you’re in the city, stop in for a ‘Big Dirty!’ We recommend you have a designated driver with you, though. The ‘Big Dirty’ runs at a whopping $80 bucks. Bring a few friends to help you chug or take it all to the head.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced at a press conference last week that The Office of Global Women’s Issues at the Department of State will be teaming up with MAC Cosmetics to battle gender-based violence and further the fight against HIV & AIDS in South Africa.

“We cannot stop the epidemic of HIV unless we address the epidemic of violence against women." Clinton said

Beat the heat with melt-proof makeup /

It’s not quite summer yet but the last couple of days sure has felt like it. Although temperatures may be scorching hot, women still want to remain looking HOT! This is where the problem arises for most. It’s a known fact that, makeup melts when it is exposed to really hot weather conditions. The result: Raccoon eyes & streaky skin.

When shopping for makeup this season, look for these key terms: water-resistant, waterproof & sweat-proof. Here are a few must-haves that won't budge, come humidity & high waters. And also to keep you looking fresh, gorgeous & melt-proof all summer long.

Video: D.C. Metro Transit Police Use Excessive Force On a Handicapped Man & Causes An Uproar /

Alright guys, this video has haunted me all weekend long. It baffles me that law enforcement would be so cruel as to lift a man out of his wheelchair, shove him to the ground so hard that his face gets busted open. This is, by far, one of the most senseless acts of violence that I have seen committed by law enforcement. Now, of course the Metro Transit officers that you see in this video have since claimed their innocence, telling the mainstream media that they acted according to protocol when they were informed that a man, in a wheelchair, was publicly drinking in front of a heavily trafficked metro station in Washington, D.C. The officers went on to say that when they attempted to apprehend the suspect, to their surprise, he stood up! That’s when the officers say they used force to take the culprit down. OK readers, you guys are pretty smart. Take a look at this video. Does it look like the suspect stood to his feet? Or, did the officers lift the suspect out of his wheelchair and then throw him to the ground? Make sure you leave us a comment.
P.S. To our surprise neither officer in this case is on any type of corrective action—both of them are still serving on the Metro Transit force.

Baby Sharn Strikes Gold With "Keep D.C. Alive" /

After years on the D.C. rap scene, rapper Baby Sharn has finally found her niche with what will surely become a DMV anthem. The D.C. native teamed up with super producer Judah for her latest single, Keep D.C. Alive—a lyrical exposé documenting the woes of Washington, D.C. From the sound of it, one would think that Sharn’s latest track is a depressing mash-up of everything wrong in the world, and though she speaks candidly about the events of 9/11 being “tattooed" on her heart, this is no downer track—in fact, it’s the complete opposite.  The song’s stomp-the-yard chanting captures an essence of inspiration—almost like an Obama campaign rally put on wax—because even though Baby Sharn confronts some tough issues like the AIDS epidemic and poverty, her lyrics reassure us that better days are still to come. We’d like to see more D.C. rappers jump on Baby Sharn’s bandwagon—quit rapping about “money, cars and bitches,” and bring poetry back to hip hop. After listening to this track, there is no doubt that Baby Sharn has staying power … what she plans to do with it, we don’t know. But one thing is for sure—we’re willing to stick around and see.

Finally, A D.C. Rapper Embodies Real Hip-Hop, Not Muddled Gibberish /

Since its beginning, Toast2that.COM has received countless press kits from aspiring rappers looking to get exposure. We consider them all-- however, rarely are we impressed. This morning I received an e-mail about a “bubbling under” artist hailing from Washington, D.C. I was so impressed by this kid that I immediately e-mailed his catalogue to my fellow editors. After 20 minutes of blasting rapper, Rahiem Supreme in my car, I began getting back to back e-mails—everyone wanted to know who Rahiem Supreme was and more importantly, where did he come from?

Supreme has solidified his presence in the D.C. rap game by, in many ways, mimicking the artistry of 90s hip-hop greats like Gangstarr, Mobb Deep, Nas … To say the least, his music is listenable—the type of hip-hop that you can play when you’re writing a paper or cleaning the house. But there is more to Supreme—lyrically, he’s not groundbreaking, but the way in which he delivers each bar can quite possibly raise the hair on the back of one’s neck. We’ve moved beyond the era of rappers “making love” to the bass line and into a period of mangled rhymes and heard-it-all-before punch lines. But every now and then, a rose sprouts from the concrete—a diamond is found hiding in the rough …

Wait, did this freestyle "pow-wow" just last for 8 minutes? How many amateurs can do that?

McDonald's Beating Victim Speaks Out-- Culprits Arrested /

Two girls, 14 and 18, were arrested on Sunday in Baltimore for the beating of a transgender woman in a Baltimore McDonald's franchise. The two young ladies were filmed dragging, kicking and punching a transgender woman identified as Chrissy Polis while a McDonald's employee filmed the entire incident. The footage was so horrific that celebrities like Amber Rose took to their Twitters, denouncing the beating. Take a look at this video--the victim finally speaks out.

The Catch: If you don't follow politics, let me school you for a second. In 2009, President Obama along with the 111th Congress made it a federal offense to initiate or participate in a hate crime, and because this beat down was so brutal, Baltimore authorities are seeking to bring hate crime charges against the two perpetrators. If convicted, one of the girls would be charged as a juvenile, the other, unfortunately, would be charged as an adult and subjected to a federal punishment. Ouch!
