Kim K. Shows Off Her 'Low-Key, Natural' Look in Allure! /
Yes, you’ve read the headline correct! Kim K toned it down a tad for the March issue of Allure Magazine, as she vowed to do in the new year. Back in January, the Kardashian said she’d be doing a lot of things differently with the start of twenty-twelve.
Instead of her signature smokey eyes, piles of mascara and glossy lips, Kardashian appears natural and nearly make-up free on the cover! Not only did she ditch the make-up but she also dropped her usual full-curly mane.
“Kim is a natural beauty,” makeup artist Fulvia Farolfi shared with Allure. “So we wanted to show her as naturally as possible, like she had just come back from the beach."
Tell us, what do you all think of Kim’s natural look? Me personally, I love it! This just proves that Kim K. is gorgeous with or without makeup.

Christians and Muslims Go Back & Forth on YouTube In A Spoken Word Battle /
“Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus” is one of the most thought-provoking, convicting poems that I’ve ever heard. However powerful, the poem has sparked a wrath of controversy on YouTube, including responses from Catholics, Muslims and Atheist:
I like Muslims (I have Muslim friends …lol), but I also make no apologies for being a Christian. When I watched the Muslim response to the video—“Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus”—I was floored by how factually flawed some of the statements were, letting me know how ill-informed we all are about each other's religion. The proclamation that Christians believe that God, the almighty, died on the cross is simply not true. Christians believe that Jesus Christ, the son of God, died on the cross for all of our sins. My Muslim poet friend does have a point when he talks about Christians worshipping the cross.
This guy is asserting that you cannot separate Jesus and religion--a premise that I disagree with, vehemently!
All those poems were touching, however none of them changed my mind on how I feel about God or Jesus Christ. Though each one was very entertaining and somewhat moving, my stance on Christ, God and religion remains the same. It was interesting to watch, though. What did y'all think?

Legend channeled Marvin Gaye as he led the school choir during a rendition of Gaye’s classic, ‘What’s Going On.’ Legend has been a very strong advocate for better education in the U.S.—meeting with the Obama administration on a regular in an effort to strengthen our public education system.Look at how professional these group of students are--no overreactions what-so-ever!

A 'Must-See' PBS Special: Slavery By Another Name /
Slavery by Another Name is a 90-minute documentary that challenges one of America's most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery in this country ended with Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863.Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Wall Street Journal senior writer Douglas A. Blackmon, the documentary explores the little-known story of the post-Emancipation era and the labor practices and laws that effectively created a new form of slavery in the South that persisted well into the 20th century. Produced by Twin Cities Public Television and premiering on PBS early 2012.
Ya'll know I'm a stickler for documentaries like this--my biggest belief is that knowledge is power! Watch this with your family (I'll be watching with my grandparents), friends & if you have children, please be sure to watch it with them. It airs Feb. 13 @ 9 p.m. on PBS.

4 Things to Remain Positive About Under Negative Circumstances /
We all have come face to face with negative situations--someone may have said something hurtful about you or a project you’ve worked hard on is rejected. The crazy thing about life is that there will always be those negative circumstances—no matter what! Rather than waste energy by reacting to negativity, we must remove ourselves from those situations and look at the positive side. And I know this may be easier said than done BUT maintaining a positive attitude in a negative situation is a very valuable skill to have. It will keep your reputation intact and show you can handle ANYTHING.
So, when life throws you lemons… here are 4 things that you should always remain positive about:

4. Things Could Be Far, Far Worse
Whatever it is that you may be dealing with, just remember: things could be worse. If you are struggling to make ends meet, think about the roof that you have over your head, or your family members and their unconditional love. If your boyfriend dumps you--there are plenty of other fish in the sea--don't trip. Don’t ever think your current situation is the absolute worst because there is someone else out there whose situation is far worse than yours.
3. ‘The Sun’ll Come Out… Tomorrow’
"There’s always tomorrow" is not just wishful thinking, it’s actually a fact! If you’re having an awful day, tomorrow will be here before you know it, to give you thousands of more opportunities to improve your situation. Remember, no matter how long today may be, tomorrow will always come. It’s all about realizing you will have another day to make things turn around for the better.
2. Health & Happiness
Your health is one of the most important assets you have. Matter-of-fact, it is the most important asset. If you’re 100 percent healthy, then you'll have no problem! Life is not always about the parties you frequent, what kind of car you drive or how much is in your 401K. All those things are completely meaningless compared to the importance of staying happy and healthy. When life starts throwing lemons your way, just simply remember that you are alive, healthy and well. There’s no greater gift than knowing that you have the rest of your life ahead of you.

They say, ‘hard times make you stronger’ and I’m a firm believer of that. If you’ve ever been through any hardships in your life and come out on the other side, then you, my friend, have conquered it all! Whether it was losing your job, being bullied or financially unstable; be thankful for those challenges and hard times. Whenever we overcome battles, we create a new person within us that has a lot more strength than the old one.

In a nutshell, Tyler Perry's advice on how to become successful is simple: Just plant your seed (idea), water it (working hard) and believe in yourself (have faith). He also stressed the importance of focusing on one goal and sticking to that one goal 100%. I love how genuine Perry seems. I mean honestly, to take time out of his hectic life to post a YouTube video on how to become successful truly speaks to his sincerity. Not to mention the fact that he reminded us that’s he's only human! How many other people worth $350 million are handing out the secrets to success??

On Wednesday night, Jay Z was the man of the hour. On his first night out, post the birth of Blue Ivy, Jay Z was said to be glowing as he was joined by some of his closest celebrity friends for the re-grand opening of the 40/40 in NY. Supposedly Jay was showing off baby pics to any and every one he could. It’s nothing like seeing a proud black father! Good for you, Jay!

A 'Sex and the City'.... Prequel? /
Our favorite Sex and the City girl is coming to primetime television! However, don’t get too excited. Sarah Jessica Parker will not be reuniting with the gang this go round. Instead, the series will be based on Sex and The City author Candace Bushnell’s prequel book, The Carrie Diaries. Basically, the book follows the young Carrie pre-success.

The show will surround Carrie Bradshaw in the early 1980s during her senior year of high school as she inquires about love, sex, friendship and family while juggling the worlds of high school and the busy Manhattan.
There is no word yet on when the show will premiere and who will actually be playing the fictional fashionista—although it has been rumored that Blake Lively may be giving it a shot!

Look good all while smelling good this spring with scented nail polishes. I don’t know what genius came up with this, but it’s perfect! I mean, who doesn’t like double duty products? Dior just recently jumped on the scented nail polish bandwagon with their new Garden Party set that gives off a light rose scent after drying. The set contains two pastel colors, Forget-Me-Not which is a very soft green and a flowery lilac called Waterlily. Although, Dior's set is a limited edition, they are not the only brand hoping on to this new trend.
